Symbolism
White is a color traditionally associated with the Medical Corps. Gold alludes to the precious metals used in dentistry. The Red Cross is a symbol of health and medical aide, and typifies the units mission. The diamond edged with 32 gold squares refers to the number of teeth found within an adult mouth. The palmetto trees pay homage to the units location in South Carolina, the Palmetto State.
